It's 2022. Why are you still using Sanger sequencing?

What is Primordium sequencing?

Primordium DNA sequencing replaces Sanger sequencing for routine plasmid cloning and long PCR products. Our proprietary technology provides key benefits:

  ✔️ No primers needed

  ✔️ Rapid turn-around

✔️ Whole-plasmid sequencing, 25 kb and beyond (see below)

✔️ Long PCR product sequencing without nested primers

  ✔️ GC-rich or repetitive DNA

✔️ Less DNA required than Sanger sequencing

  ✔️ Detect E. coli genomic DNA carry-over

Are there plasmid size limits?

We routinely sequence plasmids up to 25 kb without issue. High-quality DNA can yield substantially longer sequences, such as YACs or BACs. Please contact us for details.

What’s the catch?

There is no catch other than limited availability. We are leveraging powerful advances in DNA sequencing to accelerate routine sequencing for researchers.

Who uses Primordium sequencing?

Many leading labs use Primordium sequencing as the primary sequencing service. Labs that use viruses with terminal repeats, such as AAV or lentivirus, and labs that work with GC-rich DNA, have found our service invaluable. Finally get the correct sequence of that mystery backbone that has been floating around in your lab for 20 years.

What is the error rate?

Base error rate: less than 1 error per 50,000 bp (not counting homopolymers). Errors are detectable from quality scores, similar to Sanger sequencing. Our team is focused on improvement and responsive to any potential inaccuracy.

Routine full-plasmid sequencing saves time and money.

Plasmids frequently accumulate point mutations, deletions, duplications, and other errors which lead to months of unexplained failed experiments. Find errors before they cost you weeks or months of precious time troubleshooting.

Why did you develop Primordium plasmid sequencing?

We founded Primordium Labs to help our colleagues simplify, accelerate, and improve their DNA sequencing. We hope our technology enables you to focus on your research and have confidence in your science.
